Netflix’s 2021 horror movie lineup boasts an impressive range of releases in numerous different sub-genres — here’s what to expect in the year ahead.
A new year means all new Netflix original horror movies that will join the streaming platform’s already expansive lineup of content in 2021. The streaming service has approximately 70 movies set to release in 2021, with only a fraction including the horrifying, bizarre, and supernatural. Regardless of quantity, Netflix proved that they can provide quality horror entertainment in 2020 with impressive releases; this trend will continue throughout this brand new year.
In 2020, Netflix original movies in the horror genre ranged from zombie flicks to gothic horror adaptations. While they did lose a few titles, including Slasher – which is now owned by Shudder – they made up for it by expanding with Joe Hill’s Locke & Key and Remi Weekes’s His House. Netflix even added the highly anticipated follow-up to Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting Of Hill House titled The Haunting Of Bly Manor in October 2020, which broke streaming records. As the new year drew closer, more horror movies were announced that would join Netflix’s lineup in 2021 and beyond.
This year, Netflix has something for every horror fan. Whether it’s a slasher movie or a Reddit story come to life, the upcoming 2021 titles are sure to appeal to an expansive audience. While some of Netflix’s upcoming horror movies do have concrete release dates, others do not. Without further ado, here’s everything we know about the horror movies coming to Netflix in 2021.

Army Of The Dead follows a group of mercenaries as the zombie virus sweeps across the nation. Their casino heist quickly turns into a fight for survival against the undead. Snyder’s Army Of The Dead pays homage to George A. Romero, the creator of the modern zombie movie. Like Romero and others have done before him, Snyder’s movie features practical effects that are regarded as a classic element of the late director’s Living Dead series.
The Fear Street Trilogy – Mid-2021
Leigh Janiak’s Fear Street trilogy is finally coming to Netflix in mid-2021 after years of going in and out of development. Based on R. L. Stine’s young adult horror series of the same name, the trilogy will utilize its most popular works. Gillian Jacobs (Love) and Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) will star in Fear Street. Fear Street’s second movie will take place at Camp Nightwing during 1978. It follows a group of camp counselors who set out to solve the mysteries of Shadyside’s horrors. The third feature delves into the dark history of the town. A witch hunt in 1666 led to the town’s curse, forcing the teenagers of 1994 to figure out how to end it once and for all before it’s too late. It is likely that each installment will arrive monthly during summer 2021.

Adam Nevill’s horror novel No One Gets Out Alive will premiere as a feature-length movie on Netflix in 2021. Cristina Rodlo and Marc Menchaca are attached to the project as lead characters, which likely means Rodlo will portray Stephanie Booth, the novel’s main character. As of this writing, Menchaca’s character has not been revealed. No One Gets Out Alive follows Stephanie after she moves to the United States. Having little to no resources, she takes a room in a boarding house. While the positive aspects seem to outweigh all of the issues with her new lodgings, it doesn’t take long for her to realize that there is something particularly dangerous and hostile that grows more intense with each passing night. Netflix’s horror movie release schedule for 2021 boasts several impressive titles with names attached to the projects that only heighten the anticipation for their arrival.
